Growth plans for Tameside
Six growth locations have been identified across Greater Manchester as part of our integrated pipeline for growth. Each growth location has a distinct focus and relates to specific local areas.
Growth locations linked to Tameside
- Eastern Growth Cluster: The Eastern Growth Cluster, leveraging the creation of the Ashton Mayoral Development Zone to drive advanced materials and manufacturing development at Ashton Moss, alongside regeneration linking key towns on the transport corridor connected to Manchester City Centre.

Commitments for Tameside
Commitment 1
By 2030 Tameside will redevelop Ashton town hall and bring its long heritage back into the heart of our town centre.
Commitment 2
We will make the case for more frequent train services from Ashton and work with partners to make sure that people in Tameside can access public transport that connects our towns.
Commitment 3
Tameside will have 20% more social and affordable housing built for our residents driving down homelessness and inequality by 2030.
