Growth plans for Bury
Six growth locations have been identified across Greater Manchester as part of our integrated pipeline for growth. Each growth location has a distinct focus and relates to specific local areas.

- North East Growth Corridor: The North East Growth Corridor includes Atom Valley, where a Mayoral Development Zone is driving the development of an advanced materials and manufacturing cluster, connected to research and innovation in the city region's world-class universities.
Commitments for Bury
Commitment 1
Work with GMCA to deliver Economic Growth across Bury by progressing delivery of Atom Valley infrastructure, including the completion of the M66 western access and unlocking Northern Gateway Mayoral Development Corporation. Progress the delivery of infrastructure to unlock 4,000 new homes across our Places for Everyone housing sites and c.2,000 new homes in Bury Town Centre.
Commitment 2
By 2027 enhancements will be made to the public transport services in Bury, including delivering new bus priority infrastructure to speed up bus journeys and reduce delays, reinstating and extending the Bury night bus and make enhancements to the Bury Line Metrolink stop.
Commitment 3
Work with GMCA to deliver our first Live Well Centre in Whitefield, with more to follow in Bury and Radcliffe, building on our nationally recognised neighbourhood working teams to bring health into the hearts of communities across Bury.
